The Department of Health Sciences (DSS) of the University of Florence is founded on the principle that the promotion of health and well-being is based on the knowledge of body and mind illness processes and of their prevention and cure.
The tools to reach these objectives are based on recognising that the constructive relationship among members of academic staff, students, patients and community are at the heart of the Department's daily work.
Research, teaching and care activities are directed to the acknowledgement and enhancement of merit and innovation, identified with transparent and collective procedures.
DSS aims to represent an element of cohesion and incentive to reach high levels of excellence thus contributing to foster national and international competitiveness of our University and of the hospitals in which it operates.
