The Paediatrics, Midwifery, Gynaecology and Nursing unit spans the entire path of the developmental age, starting from the gynaecological and midwifery aspects, to birth, childhood and adolescence. The unit includes the skills of endocrinology, auxometry, infective and immune diseases and nursing thus allowing the development of integrated research. Its strength is the cooperation among nursing, gynaecology, midwifery and paediatrics. This synergy in research is then transferred to the two reference hospitals, Careggi and Meyer, and this extended vision carries over to students and young researchers all the key knowledge to assist with pre-natal care, neonatal screening, vaccinations and other care programmes that foster a balanced evolution of mother and child until the completion of the developmental age.
